The rides over the Easter weekend have really fuelled the appetite for biking. I realised that I haven’t ridden (seriously) since 2008 and that made me sad. I realised you can’t call yourself a biker just because you own a bike!
So, what to do? Sure, trips out at weekend are the end goal but even with the light nights, the motivation after work is sorely missing (would write about not being bothered going to the gym, but I can’t be bothered)
Time to do something I’ve wanted to do for ages… BIKE TO WORK! Done two days this week & I think that’s quite enough for the moment. I’m lucky because there is a bike store at work (no showers so sales of Right Guard are up!) and I’ve nailed packing shirts so I don’t look like the iron-shy fool that I actually am.
So far, so good… As tough as expected but let’s face it, I rely on gravity for my biking thrills, so no surprises! And being the data freak that I am, I was desperate to find out how badly I do… The wireless speedo that I already had just wouldn’t work, but as the advert says, “there’s an App for that”. Cyclemeter downloaded on the iPhone, and my phone now records all my rides & takes me to data-geek heaven… Also records routes on Google Maps – wahoo!
So the target is twice a week. Can’t wait to see how the tarmac miles help the trails…
