Its interesting. Something like the modern-day equivalent of being compelled to touch a wall marked “Wet Paint” perhaps, but for some reason it seems that rules, advice, guidelines etc just don’t apply to us. I mean, we know they exist but they don’t actually apply to us
We started seeing this a lot at the beginning of the year with the bad weather. “Stay at home…only travel if absolutely necessary” said the news bulletins. And the roads were full (I was one of the queueing crazy ones before this sounds like a soapbox rant).
Even the hospitals announced that people should only come to appointments if patients felt it was critical…& still we turned up.
I must admit to having a minor Twitter tantrum earlier about people parking all over the place…yellow lines, pavements, verges, walkways (& this was all at the same shopping centre), but I’m genuinely more interested in why we do this than furious about it. What is it that makes us think that “that” doesn’t apply to us? Or is it more that we’re not thinking at all?
Well, I say “we”, but of course this doesn’t apply to me
